How are you? Like really, how are you? In the small business world there is a lot of talk right now about burn out. October - December is such a busy time, especially for product based businesses but also for us service based people. It can feel like we're trying to run a mile a minute while balancing getting ready for the next year and making time to actually sleep and eat. I just want you to know, I get you. I feel it, we're in this together.
Slow living is something that really interests me, and I try to be mindful in life. BUT, I would be lying if I wasn't honest that it it's taking me A LOT of time and energy to start my own business. This past weekend I took my first full weekend off in a longggg time. My husband came into the living room Saturday morning only to say ' you said you wouldn't work!' to which I said 'just this one thing!' I did put the computer away after that, and I had a great time.
I'm in no way saying this to glorify busy-ness. I don't want to be busy. Yet, the reality is, starting a business is hard work, and I've never met anyone who's said other wise. We all have moments of sprints, followed by moments of exhaustion, followed by moments of why the hell am I even here?
And I know the best thing for me in those moments, other than rest, is to know that I'm not going it alone. And if you're right there right now, know that you're not. We're all in this together.
There are so many wonderful people out there, creating wonderful businesses, that this world needs. Personally, I want a world where kind, compassionate, loving people are the ones out there creating things for us all to benefit from. And I'm so, so, so grateful to those of you who are giving up much of your precious time and energy to do so. Because let's face it, both you and I could be working for someone else right now, we could be signing off the clock at 5pm, we could be taking every weekend off! Yet we're still both here, fueled by hope, creativity and spirit.
I'm sending you good, good vibes friends - the best that I've got. And if you need someone to say, oh my god me too, just reach out. I'm always up for a chat.
And now, for the show! November tech refresh, to lift our spirits and ease us into the holiday season!
